Mikel Minor

BYUtv Sports, Senior Coordinating Producer

In 2011, Mikel Minor returned to his alma mater to accept a senior production management position overseeing studio and live event sports content and production for BYU's independently-owned networks – BYUtv and BYU Radio. The 24/7 non-profit networks reach more than 60-million homes in the U.S. with linear delivery and have robust additional distribution worldwide via digital and mobile platforms. BYUtv Sports produces (on average) 150 live events each year, in addition to studio and specialty content including the daily BYU Sports Nation live national TV/radio simulcast, football and basketball coach’s shows (also simulcast on TV/radio via BYU’s dedicated SiriusXM channel), After Further Review, and live pregame and post-game shows bookending each BYU football game broadcast.

Minor has extensive Emmy Award-winning credentials in sports broadcasting and executive management at national and regional networks, as well as local affiliate levels. His seasoned background includes six years as a coordinating producer with ESPN studio production at the network headquarters in Bristol, CT. He primarily oversaw daily live SportsCenter editions and various specialty programs.

Minor also established and managed regional networks with Comcast/NBC-U in Northern California and the Bay Area, as well as creating nationally-syndicated programming; producing, writing, and directing a wide variety of television concepts, programs, packages, and long-form features; and hiring and managing top-level talent, producers, and production personnel.

As a BYU graduate, Minor began his professional broadcasting career at the university as the supervising producer of The Blue & White Sports Network – one of the first unwired syndicated college sports networks in the country – featuring BYU and Air Force Academy live sports events.
